Waves
A wave is a disturbance or variation that transfers energy progressively from point to point in a medium and that may take the form of an elastic deformation or of a variation of pressure, electric or magnetic intensity, electric potential, or temperature. The two distinct main types of waves are Transverse waves and Longitudinal waves.
Example
A wave is like when people create a wave in a football game or basketball game. A group of people jump up and sit back down, people nearby then start to do the same and pretty soon there is wave traveling around the stadium. The wave is a disturbance (people jumping up and sitting back down), it travels around the stadium but none of the people in the stadium are carried around but remain in their seats.
